Port Darwin Football Club would like to announce that we have partnered with Foodbank NT.
Foodbank NT will now be the clubs official Charity of Choice.
As a Football Club, we now have a clear direction committed to supporting a local cause. For us, this means supporting a worthwhile charity with our people’s time and resources. Giving back to our community is central to our clubs values and reflects our desire to make a positive and enduring difference.
Foodbank was established in 1992, Foodbank is the biggest hunger-relief organisation in Australia. It is a non-denominational, not-for-profit organisation which provides the resources for charities and community groups to feed the hungry. Having originated in NSW, Foodbank now has a presence in all states and the Northern Territory and has distribution centres in all state capitals. With the problem of surplus in the Australian food industry rising, Foodbank acts as a conduit between food surplus and hunger by working with farmers, wholesalers, manufacturers, and retailers who donate stock as part of a commitment to social responsibility. Over the course of a year, Foodbank provides 67 million meals to more than 1,750 schools and 2,400 charities.
